A stage performer since the not-so-tender age of 5, Rebecca Gruber has never looked back since. Her craft as a jazz vocalist got honed early, when, as a college student at Brandeis, the Chair of the theatre department urged Rebecca to apply to London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. There, she studied under the tutelage of Olivier and Tony-Award winning actors, singers and dancers. Back on these shores again, Rebecca become a member of the prestigious Actor's Equity Association and was quickly employed as a working performer in New York City and throughout the United States.
In a New York production of the musical, "Guys and Dolls," Ms. Gruber played the role of "Sarah Brown," transforming the typically sweet and demure role into a sultry, vibrant character. This unique performance caught the eye and ear of renowned renowned music executive and producer Lou Holtzman from School Cut Records, who offered to produce Gruber's first album. This album, "Out of this World," also features well-known musical director, Don Rebic, and recording artist and vocalist, John Capes.
Forget your preconceptions about what jazz is "supposed to sound like." The songs here transcend any genres of style and era. From the very first torrid note to the soft and fervent last, "Out Of This World" will take you on one hell of a journey. A journey you'll not soon forget.
